Frequently Asked Questions
IS DRIFTWOOD A LICENSED MOVER?
Absolutely! We are a licensed moving company in the state of Georgia. Our Household Good license number is HG8833. We are also required to register with the Department of Transportation. Our US DOT# is 3136921. *Unlicensed movers operate outside the law, and they may provide little protection for loss or damage to your property – or none at all. A link to check our credentials can be found on our "About" page. IS DRIFTWOOD INSURED?
Yes, Driftwood Moving Company is fully insured, but it's important to understand that a Moving Company's "liability” and “insurance” are not the same thing. Reputable movers will explain their liability for loss or damage to your property and how you can increase your protection. All licensed movers must provide you with a liability addendum. LIABILITY ADDENDUM / PROTECTION OPTIONS?
Moving companies are not liable for the full value of your property unless you declare a specific value and pay the charge for that protection. There are three (3) options available to cover loss and/or damage. Option 1: Released Value Protection – this option provides reimbursement for loss and damage at a rate of $0.60 per pound, per article, based solely upon the weight of the lost or damaged article(s). There is no additional charge for this option. Option 2a: Full Value Protection – this option provides coverage based on the current replacement value at the time of loss or damage. Carrier shall have the option of repairing and/or restoration to the original condition. Additional charges apply based on the valuation of the goods declared. Option 2b: This option provides coverage based on the current replacement value at the time of loss or damage. There is a $300.00 deductible for which you (the shipper) are responsible. DO YOU OFFER PACKING / FULL SERVICE MOVES?
Yes! We can offer a turn-key, stress-free moving experience by packing your times for you. You also have the cost saving option of packing on your own, but be aware that moving companies will generally not accept liability for items you pack yourself (unless the mover is negligent in handling the items). Any items you pack must be able to withstand the rigors (shaking) of transportation. Please discuss this with us and consider asking Driftwood to pack any fragile items for you. Never pack matches, flammable or other dangerous articles. Packing Tip: Never pack jewelry, money, important papers, medicines or other valuable articles for shipment on the mover’s truck. Carry them with you. Your mover is not responsible for these items. MOVING BLANKETS / SHRINK WRAP INCLUDED?
Our premium moving blankets and shrink wrap are included with every move at no additional charge. This is a necessary step to fully protect your furniture during transit and we feel it would be unprofessional to charge our customers extra for these items. DISASSEMBLY AND REASSEMBLY OF BEDS/FURNITURE INCLUDED?
Yes! There is no additional charge to disassemble and reassemble your large furniture. This is all a part of the moving process and we are glad to help take care of this burden for you! MOVING COSTS?
Your moving costs will be calculated by one of the two methods below. For moves less than 50 miles: Charges are based on the number of workers and hours for the loading, moving and unloading. For moves in excess of 50 miles: Charges are based on the total shipment weight and distance of the move. DEPOSIT REQUIRED?
Yes, we require a 10% deposit with a $100 minimum to secure your moving date. WHEN TO EXPECT PAYMENT?
Please be prepared to pay at delivery – You will be expected to pay for the move before your goods are unloaded at their destination. Payment will be expected in cash, credit, money order, or cashier’s check based upon the written estimate. OFFER MOVING ON ST. SIMONS ISLAND - SEA ISLAND?
Yes! We offer moving services for St. Simons Island, GA 31522 & Sea Island, GA 31561. We also move on Jekyll Island, GA 31527. In fact, we will move anyone in the state of Georgia! *Our moving company is located in Brunswick, GA 31525 (Georgia). CLEANING SERVICES?
We do not offer cleaning services at this time, but we can recommend a cleaner that we have hired for personal use. It is a great idea to have your new residence deep cleaned before moving in, especially carpeted areas. You should also consider cleaning your old residence after moving out to ensure your deposit is returned if applicable; It's also a nice gesture for the new tenant/owner. *Another good idea is hiring a lawn care service while you're getting settled into your new home!
